One of the saptarishis who has authored an astrological thesis is Bhrigu Maharshi. In South India, he is credited with Hora (Hour) as a contributor to panchangam; in fact, until recently, hora was referred to as Brighuhora. In South India, Bhrigu Samhita is known as Brighunaadi. Bhrigu Samhita, like all Naadi manuscripts, has references to name, parents, grandparents, thumb impression, and 12 karaka prophecies, repercussions, dangers, and cures to overcome them. An ancient Hindu astrological text that is supposed to include facts from millions of lifetimes, as well as horoscopes written for the time of consultation. Bhrigu was a Vedic sage who is referenced in the Mahabharata. Because the Bhrigus were a sacred race, identifying the compiler of the Bhrigu-Samhita is difficult, but tradition has it that he lived 10,000 years ago and had a divine vision of everyone who was to be born in every region of the world. This knowledge was accumulated in his vast astrological treatise, which was initially written on palm leaves.
